Mirrors Edge Battlefield:Bad Company Easter Egg / Reference

August 152009

This video just shows you the Battlefield Easter Egg / References in one of the Elevators located at the beginning of Chapter 5: New Eden

It is found on the news screen in the elevator about a a conflict in the Middle East Nation of Serdaristan. Serdaristan is a setting in the game Battlefield: Bad Company, which is made by EA Games and DICE, who also made Mirror’s Edge

Its a fairly cool Easter Egg as i always read/skimmed through the stories but never new this was an Easter Egg. So its worth a look at.

Weigh In: Week 10

August 32009

*Turkey Mini-Meatloaves*
1 slice of whole wheat bread
1/2 cup skim milk
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 onion (I didn’t use onion, I don’t like it.)
bag of spinach leaves
1 1/4 pounds ground turkey
2 tablespoons finely grated parmesan
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg (I didn’t have any.)

-Preheat oven to 375.
-Grind the bread in food processor (I used a blender) until find crumbs form. Transfer to a large bowl and pour milk over crumbs.
-Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and golden, about 5 minutes. Add spinach, and stir until just wilted, about 30 seconds. Transfer to bowl with soaked crumbs. Add the turkey, cheese, egg, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Combine mixture with your hands until well mixed; it will be quite wet.
-Pack 1 cup of the mixture in a 1-cup dry measuring cup. Invert the cup onto a rimmed baking sheet, gently shaking the cup to release the mixture. Repeat with remaining mixture. Bake mini-meatloaves until cooked through and golden, about 40 minutes.

*To make the glaze: in a small bowl combine 3 tablespoons ketchup, 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon hot sauce. Brush over meatloaves.

How to Make Homemade Yogourt

July 282009

This is a short video on how to make your own yogourt. Making your own yogourt has many benefits: you save money, you cut down on plastic waste from all those containers you usually recycle or throw away after you finish your store-bought yogourt, and you have the satisfaction of knowing you made something on your own. You can also flavour it with whatever you want: jam, honey, syrups, nuts, raisins, chocolate, brown sugar, or whatever else suits your fancy. I hope you enjoy the video and actually try it yourself.

Ingredients:

2 L milk
3-5 tablespoons of yogourt
3-5 tablespoons of skim milk powder

Procedure
Boil milk
Cool it down to body temperature
Whisk in plain yogourt and skim milk powder
Place in a warm oven (lowest possible temperature) for 4 hours
Store yogourt in containers in the fridge
Enjoy!

***EDIT***
A friend of mine told me that he tried making it with some flavoured yogourt. He said it worked fine.
