Can I drink skim milk if I have Addisons disease?

I know if I eat Bananas or eat certain cereals, drink gatorade.Etc.. I get really sick, and miss work. I love coffee, and I only have skim milk with my latte. It has very little effect. Can I drink it, or is it not a good thing?

Milk is not a problem with Addison’s sufferers, unless it is not pasteurized. In fact, it’s one of the treatments when a patient is vomiting, milk is given, often with salt. But make sure it is pasteurized, and not past the date, any spoilage (of milk or any food) can be problematic for you.

As always, the best person to answer this type of question is a trained professional, either a registered dietician or your personal physician, someone who knows your disease situation and can advise you personally.

low fat substitution for heavy cream?

I am trying to make something very similar to penne ala vodka and I really trying to cut down the fat – I have heard of substitution from soy yogurt to cottage cheese with evaporated milk to skim milk with flour and a million other things – I don’t know which one would taste the closest to heavy cream for this recipe. Any advice (except half and half) would help

Here is the best substitute I’ve used; after trying several ideas.

8 ounces cottage cheese
3 tablespoons powdered skim milk

Combine these ingredients in blender and puree 5 minutes.

HUmmm… It never occurred to me until just now as I always have powdered milk available. I bet you could use powdered coffee creamer such as Creamora or a light version. I use powdered creamer in my hot cocoa mix so it should work fine.

Condensed Milk?

Hey guys lol

Was just wondering, Is there anyway i can make condensed milk without Dried milk power etc.

I got Normal Milk and skim.

Any help would be appreciated

and i cant go buy any as it is 11.30pm my time

You have to dry the normal milk on slow fire and keep on stirring it continuously so that it does not stick to the pot. You can get condensed milk this way

what’s the difference between milk and skimmed milk ?

skim milk has had the butter fat "skimmed off" so it is much less fattening than whole milk.

How long does it take to write a typical research paper?

I am just procrastinating a bit. I have a 15 page research paper due Monday morning. I have 13 sources (which I have not read entirely, but skimmed through) and 1 page typed. The format is APA and the research paper is for a graduate course in curriculum and instruction.

So…what do you think…can the deadline be met?

You don’t really have a choice. It would be better if you had had at least started the whole paper a week ago – or even typed more than a page this morning/last night. Really, at this point it seems that your only option is to drink lots of caffeine (redbull, coffee, etc) and plan for an all nighter or two. Good luck!

are there any points in having skimmed milk in tea? just the usual small amount?

thanks for the answers to my special K question, sorry for asking such little things, but i just wanna make sure im doing this right, hopefully i will pick up one of the books when i go again next week which will help. cheers guys.

These are the points for Weight Watchers:

Breakfast – 4.5 points

Special K, 50g – 2.5 points

skimmed milk – 1 pint (some for breakfast, the rest in tea and coffee over the rest of the day) – 2 points

Recipe: Blueberry White Tea Cupcakes

1/2 cup unsalted butter*, softened
1 cup sugar* (I used organic cane sugar)
2 eggs*, room temp
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour*
1 3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup strongly brewed Starbucks Berryblossom white tea (or any other white tea, but this kind has blueberry and white cranberry flavour extracts in it) + 2 tbsp skim milk powder

Non-dairy creamer, or real milk in the place of an equal amount of liquid.

i tend to need food around now, before i go to bed at 11 ish is it ok to have a small bowl of cereal with skimmed milk?

So you have to eat 4-5 meals a day 2 being snacks here is a sample meal plan for the day:
MEAL PLAN:
8am……………..Meal #1
11am……………Meal #2 (heavy snack)
2pm……………..Meal #3
5pm……………..Meal #4 (light snack)
7pm……………..Meal#5
9pm……………..Light snack
NEVER EAT 1 1/2 HRS BEFORE BED!

FOODS ALLOWED:
-all fruit in any quantity
-all vegetables in any quantity, except
NO white potatoes
NO avacadoes
-Good source of protein:
chickpeas, bean, tofu & lentils
-Brown rice—2 cups of cooked rice
-2cups of low fat or skim or soy milk
-as much water as you like
-oatmeal–1 cup
-All herbs and spices
-6 oz. low fat yogurt (no fruit on the bottom 2X per day)
-4 egg whites
-2 cups herbal tea
-1 cup of ffreashly squeezed fruit or vegetable juice
-1 1/2 slices of low fat cheese or 1 veggie burger without bread
-sugarless gum
-1 tsp low fat mayo
-1 tbsp salt
-1pat (1tsp) of butter
-1 tsbp mustard or ketchup
-2 tbsp soy sauce
-2 tbsp teriyaki sauce
-1 tsp sugar substitute

FOODS NOT ALLOWED:
-peanut butter/jelly
-white rice

-full fat cheese
-Bread ANY TYPE
-raisins
-dried or preserved fruits

SNACKS FOR PHASE I:
-1/3 cup plain yogurt dip and 2 cups raw vegetables

-15 grapes and half of low-fat milk

-(10-14) almonds
- 1 jello smoothie snack
-popcorn air popped (3 cups no butter)

-1 medium banana
-2 tbsp sunflower seeds
